Face and Neck – Lifting

The facial aging process is caused by a series of changes in the skin, for instance: the atrophy of the dermis, the destruction of the elastic fibers, and the atrophy of the sebaceous glands which give the skin a dry appearance.

These changes produced by the facial aging process, together with gravity, cause progressive flaccidity in the skin which affects all the face.  The fat tends to accumulate in specific regions, like the area under the jaw, causing a double chin.

To eliminate or improve these defects in facial aging, there are special types of procedures like rhytidectomy, blepharoplasty, mentoplasty, liposuction, etc..

With rhytidectomy lifting all of the face and neck is treated, solving the problems of falling eyebrows and a tired or sad appearance in the face, and the youth and smoothness of the neck is recuperated.

Anesthesia for Facial Lifting

The procedure is done with general anesthesia or local anesthesia and sedation.

Pre-Operation

Medical photographs will be taken before the operation, which will show the face in great detail.  These photographs will help to evaluate your face and your eyes before the operation, and are used as reference points in the operating room.

Surgical Time for Facial Lifting

The real surgical time will vary depending on each patient.  A facial lifting normally takes about two hours.

The normal stay in the clinic is three nights.  You will check in an hour and a half before your operation and you will check out three days later.

Post-Operation

We begin to remove the stitches 5 to 7 days after the surgery.  The resulting scar stays hidden in the scalp, behind and just in front of the ear.  It is white for 6 to 10 months, and practically unnoticeable.

Examples:

  • Subcutaneous fat corrected with liposuction and replacement of tissue with neck lifting.
  • Correction using neck-face lifting and laser application.
