The Bichat BallThe Bichat Ball, also known as the Buccal Fat Bag, is a very defined anatomical structure which has great relevance in the shape of the cheeks and the middle and inferior region of the face. This procedure is done in round, or oval profiles nd produces changes in facial symmetry, reducing the cheeks. After this procedure surprising aesthetic results in the shape of the face are seen. The Buccal Fat Bag causes the puffy cheeks we see in children; with age and growth of the facial structures, the buccal fat bag shrinks relatively in size. However, in some facial silhouettes the evidence and prevalence is easily noticeable. There are constants when talking about weight and volume, with an average of 9.3 grams and 9.6 cc respectively. Among the immediate possible complications is hematoma. An abscess could appear on the second or third day. Facial nerve paralysis is also possible, but extremely rare. Another possible consequence is a facial asymmetry by extracting different volumes of fat from each side. The possible complications disappear at around one month after the surgery using physiotherapy and B-Complex vitamins. The optimal time to see the result is in the second month after the operation. |
